Girl Scout Cookies for Marines

Our next door neighbor's son is a Marine, and his unit is getting ready to deploy over to Afghanistan at the end of this week. Since we are selling girl scout cookies this year, we thought it would be nice to take a collection and send over as many cookies as we can to this unit as they get ready to take on this tough job.

This is what his mom told me about the deployment:
His unit is leaving for Afghanistan at the end of Feb. I am sure that those boys would love some girl scout cookies, especially because it will be first time deployments for a lot of them, and I am sure that homesickness will set in pretty quickly. Plus, they are going to a base in S. Afghan that does not have many amenities. Port a potties that reach up to 130 degrees is more like it!

His Battalion is 3rd LAAD (Low Altitude Air Defense).

We just think it would be nice to send some cookies over there. It is a nice treat for men & women in the unit & it is an easy way to show them our support. Cookies cost $3.50, so if you would consider donating $4.50 per box to cover shipping, plus the administration of the "ChipIn" site, that would be great! Any donation would be appreciated. We will take whatever money we collect and send as many cookies as we can. Don't delay, though, we have to get this wrapped up this week, or the Girl Scout cookies will be gone. p.s. to the Hanson side of our family - I did contacted Katie about sending cookies to Dan's unit. Bad news is their mail service has shut down. The good news is it is shut down because they are coming home soon!! So too late to send cookies to them.
